Resolutions

NEW YEAR?

It’s that time of year again. Time for making resolutions where we endeavor to be healthier, decrease our bad habits and add good ones, all in the interest of being better human beings.

How has that worked for you? I bet whatever it is that you promised yourself to do, or not do in previous  years, you fell back to your old ways in a matter of weeks, days or…hours!!

Let me make it easier for you this year. I have narrowed it all down to two concepts, acceptance and kindness. I promise that if you make these the central theme of your thoughts and actions over the next year, your health, your relationships, and even your professional success will respond positively in 2024.

First, try to accept yourself as you are. For all your perceived imperfections, you are the one best suited to live your life. For all your ups and downs, if you are reading this you no doubt have much to be grateful for. Even what you thought was bad luck at the time taught you something and helped to make you the person you.

Try also to accept others, knowing that like you they are doing the best they can with the tools they possess. This will endow you with empathy and understanding that will improve connectedness with others as well as your own self esteem, and therefore your health. Trust me, improved self love leads to better self care!

Work to practice kindness with yourself, those you know and even those you don’t know so well. Thee is no doubt that kindness put forth into the universe comes back to us as a reflection magnified many times over. Kindness, like acceptance is a powerful catalyst to self-improvement.

My wish for you this New Year is to keep it simple. Start each day with the affirmation to be kinder and more accepting, of yourself and others. Don’t just say the words, but let your actions reflect the concepts of kindness and acceptance. If you do, in very little time, your health, your relationships, your professional life and the gratitude you feel for your life will improve. And the world will be a better place. I promise. Happy New Year.

I wish you peace and joy!
