CAREER- a Primary Food
The Institute for Integrative Nutrition considers contentment with career to be essential for overall health and happiness. It is even more important than the food we eat or the exercise we engage in. Yet many of us make career choices in a haphazard, not well thought out way, sometimes with disastrous results. In my case, choosing the “wrong”career for me resulted in thirty years of misery, open heart surgery, divorce and loss of family and personal fortune.
How did this happen? I did not pause early in life and at crucial moments throughout life and ask myself, “What am I meant to do with my life? What do I love to do? What makes me happy? What feeds my soul and fills me with excitement?” Instead I did what was expected of me.
Career counseling is not only important for the young at the beginning of their professional lives but also for those in midlife considering career change, as well as retirees looking to embark on new career paths. Health and career coaches can help with these decisions.
I suggest you consider these quotes when facing career crossroads:
Mark Twain said, “The three most important days in your life are the day you were born, the day you figure out why you were born, and the day you set out to fulfill your purpose.”
Confucius said, “Choose a job that you love and you will never work a day in your life.”

Consider these quotes when choosing your career path, making changes, or facing critical moments in your life. I wish you peace and joy!
